Grand Knight June 2023

Dear Brother Knights,

Happy Summer Brother Knights!  What a great time of the year it is!  Children (and teachers!) are on summer break!  The days are longer, the warmth is constant and the humidity is starting to climb up!
We all know God is Great, but wasn’t the inch of rain we had on Thursday morning a blessing from Him!  I read somewhere that it had been since last July Lincoln has received more than an inch of rain.  Please keep praying for rain for our farmers and our lakes and streams!

I would like to congratulate Father Beardslee on being the Knight of the Month for June!  Father spearheaded a membership drive at Pius for the graduating senior men.  There was a tremendous turn out for the event!  Father was helped by our trustees, James McCarville and Marvin Burbach.  Without their help this wouldn’t have been able to succeed.  Thanks to all three of you for building the Knight’s future with this recruitment drive.

The Knight Family of the Month is James and Lisa McCarville.  James and Lisa provided desserts for the Pius event along with organizing the luncheon that was served.  Thanks James and Lisa for your ongoing commitment to Council 833.

As I mentioned above, summer is here and with that we have a lot of upcoming events.  July 2-4 we will have our Fireworks tent at the Hy-Vee on 52nd and O Street.  We will need volunteers to help with this endeavor!  Please be open to sharing some of your time this fireworks season by giving back to our council.  Please look for more information in the church bulletin as we get closer to the middle of June.
June 11th our parish will have the Corpus Christi procession from St. Teresa’s church to the Pink Sisters Chapel.  Our council is in charge of the sound system for the event and also for manning the canopy that covers the priest during the procession.  Please contact me if you are willing to help.  The procession takes place after the 8 AM mass.  It would be spectacular if we had a huge Knight presence at the event.  We are the protectors of the church and with today’s unrest, our greatest deterrent is numbers.

Before the General Meeting on June 21st we will host an exemplification at the Knight’s Hall.  At this time we will enter into our council the young men that signed up at the Pius event.  I believe we have 5 or 6 new knights to welcome.  Please arrange to attend.  The starting time will be 7:00 PM and last approximately 30 minutes.

June 23rd will be the Fish Fry Appreciation Dinner at the hall for everyone that helped with the fish fry.  All are invited.  After the event we can go to the Patriot Pete’s Firework Show.  Location to be announced.

The last event I will mention is the Alter Server outing to the Saltdogs baseball game.  This will be on July 29th.  Servers will attend the 4 PM mass, enjoy pizza and then head to Haymarket Park to cheer on the Saltdogs.  There is no charge for this.  More information will be shared later in the summer regarding this.

Once again thank you for service our council.  Continue praying for our priest, praying for rain and praying for each other.

May God continue to bless us all.
