Brother Knights,
I want to begin by thanking everyone for the kind words, texts, emails and prayers as I begin my tenure as Grand Knight of Fitzgerald Council 833. This isn’t my first time being Grand Knight of our council, as I was Grand Knight in the mid 2000’s for 3+ years.
My wife, Claire, and I have 2 daughters, Hannah and Kelly. We also have a wonderful son in law, Brian and have been blessed with 4 grandchildren, Weston, Lane, Maren and Truitt. We have been members of St. Teresa Parish for 34 years and I look forward to serving you and our Council as Grand Knight.
We recognize Knights and Families of our parish on a monthly basis for doing outstanding things for our parish and/or council. This month’s recipient for Knight of the Month is Tom Hoffman. Tom organized the alter boy outing to the Saltdogs game that was held on August 20th. Tom acquired the tickets and took care of the planning of the meal that the boys and their chaperones enjoyed. Thanks Tom for your continued outstanding work and dedication to our council.
Our Family of the Month is James and Lisa McCarville. James and Lisa took on the task of beautifying our grounds around the Knight’s Hall and boy did they do a great job!! From removing unwanted plants and weeds to replanting new plants and laying down mulch, this family did an amazing sprucing up of our grounds. They put in many, many hours and we are so thankful for their efforts for our council.
I would also like to thank James for his role as Past Grand Knight of our council. He was a great leader during one of the most trying time is our council and in the Knight’s of Columbus history, having led us through the Covid pandemic. James made sure that we continued meeting whether it was in person of via Zoom. He understood that our council still had a mission to serve our parish and his leadership never wavered during this difficult 2 years. James we thank you for your time, talent and treasure and sincere dedication to 833 as our past Grand Knight.
Our council’s focus for the future is going to be FAMILY. Officers of our council have met and discussed this and we are excited to announce that we will have many family events in the upcoming months. Please keep an eye on the church bulletin and our Knight’s newsletters and emails. These events will be published in these ways.
With that being said, we need to also have Knights willing to help with these events. We need the sharing of your time and talents so we can make all of these things successful and continue to make Fitzgerald Council 833 one of the best councils in the state! One way to begin helping out is by coming to our council meetings. We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Knight’s Hall. We need the men of our parish there to share their thoughts and ideas so we can keep building on the great things we already do.
Thank you again for welcoming me as your Grand Knight. If you ever have questions, comments, or suggestions I can be reached via email at schinkelr@gmail.com
Thank you and may God continue to bless all of us,
Ron Schinkel
