Brother Knights,
What a wonderful time of the year as the leaves have changed colors and the weather has turned somewhat cooler. We are still experiencing beautiful weather as we enter into November but we know, as Nebraskans, this will pass and we will be facing cold, and hopefully, snowy forecasts! The fall weather this past weekend was perfect for our Council’s first Fall Party at the Knight’s Hall. Deputy GK Matt Schafers and his wife did a wonderful job hosting the party! Many children, and their families, were in attendance and enjoyed pumpkin painting, treats and the bounce house! Just a great time for everyone and the start of a something that we hope continues annually!
We also had our Corporate Communion on October 23rd. Father Kipper recognized the Knights that were in attendance at the mass and had kind words about our Council. Thank you for those that attended this special event and thank you to Father Kipper for allowing us to be a part of the mass.
Our council’s chain gang team consisting of Brad Behne, Ryan Weslowski, myself, Bob Codr and Brian Callan completed our 2nd year of holding the chains and down marker for the Pius football team at Aldrich Field. We would like to think that we were one of the reasons Pius made it to the Class B state playoffs this season! Thank brother knights for giving up some of your Friday nights to perform under the lights!
Our Knight of the Month for October is Matt Schafers for all of the time and effort he has put in with the St. Teresa’s teacher luncheon and the fall party! You have been busy since taking over the position of Deputy Grand Knight and we appreciate everything you do and will continue to do.
Our Knight Family of the Month for October is Ryan and Vonnie Weslowski’s Family. Ryan and his children helped to make our Tootsie Roll drive a success by working shifts at the 70th and Pioneers Hy-Vee handy out Tootsie Rolls. Thank you for your time and talents in all that you do for Council 833.
At this month’s meeting we will be having mass for the deceased brothers of our council. The meeting date is November 16th. We will have a very short meeting after the mass. We hope to have a great turnout for this meeting to honor those that have gone before us. We also have our annual bazaar happening on November 23rd. There are many ways we can support this fundraiser so please help out however you see fit.
Lastly, I have been in contact with parishioners that are elderly or home bound and that have asked for help with snow removal at their residence. I will be emailing a form out soon with addresses on it of these individuals. If you are able to help, please choose and address or two. This can be a great activity to do with your children. I am sure our brother knights will step up and make this a success too.
As always, thank you for everything you and your families do to make our parish and our council one of, if not, the best in our diocese!
May God continue to bless us all,
Ron Schinkel
Grand Knight
